Its been another sunny warm day. As the sun was going down out in the west I noticed a prominent tree on Storeton Lane near Barnston bathed in the last golden rays of the day’s sun.
I manged to get my camera just in time to capture the tree with its golden tint.
But the light fades fast as it is still only March.
And as the light began to fade I headed off home.
Tonight after sunset there was a very bright waxing crescent moon out in the western sky. The moon had a thick bright crescent and right next to it was the dazzling planet Venus.
Venus is the brightest object in the sky after the sun and moon. It is only one day away from its greatest elongation – its greatest distance from the sun on our sky’s dome.
Amazing view! I managed to take a few photographs through the trees in my back garden .
It has been a bright sunny day more like summer than early spring. The clocks went forward in the early hours of this morning. At around 6.30pm we went out down to the coast. As the sun was setting we walked along the Heswall shore and watched the sunset across the Dee estuary across to Wales and out to Liverpool Bay.
We walked down by Sheldrakes restaurant where there were lots of people enjoying a drink on the veranda celebrating the end of a glorious day. The restaurant is being renovated and most of the building is covered in scaffolding but it hasn’t stopped it being popular.
We walked along the channel in the direction of Wirral Country Park at Thurstaston. There are dozens of boats moored along the channel, many of them appear to have seen better days. As the light faded the larger boats were silhouetted against the setting sun.
There were not too many others walking along the path just another couple of photographers. One with a tripod keen to capture the last rays of the sun falling across the muddy channel. Another was walking back from Thurstaston returning back to his car.
We walked on for a bit. We could still see the coast further up the peninsula to West Kirby and out to sea we could just make out the windfarm on the Burbo Flats in Liverpool Bay.
As the light was fading fast we soon turned around to head back. Past Sheldrakes restaurant and into Banks Road to the car park to drive back home.
Home for a late supper the end to a glorious day.
